Smith Optics always delivers
- Familiarity:
- I've put it through the wringer
Chromapop is a game changer. A few years back I was in Breck on a summer trip and ended up talking to someone standing in line for the zip lines about his sunglasses. I have owned other Smith products before, I have a pair of Serpicos, but this was the first time I checked out Chromapop. I put them on and instantly every color was enhanced, glare is reduced and details are instantly more visible. As an avid fly fisherman, being able to spot small details underwater is crucial to a successful day in the water. This is my second pair of Lowdown XL 2's and I don't think I would buy a different frame unless they were discontinued. The only reason I ordered a new pair is because after two years of fishing trips, hiking, Jeepin', and jacking around I finally dropped these suckers face down and put a small scratch in the center of one lens and it was driving me bonkers. The matte finish was also starting to become slick, but honestly that didn't bother me that much. The Lowdown offers classic styling that goes with any outfit from waders and a flannel shirt to shorts and a polo. I have had the matte black with green/gray Chromapop and this is my first time with the brown lenses and the Matte Havana frames. The frames, as my wife put it "those are super cute" so I know they look good. The brown tint lens adds a nice tint to things outside and from what I have been able to tell will be great for fishing. Day to day use, I prefer the green/gray tint because they seem to alter colors a little less. Whether you choose the brown lens or the gray green, these are hands down, the best sunglasses I have ever owned.
